I’m Ken Reusser — a third-generation contractor, entrepreneur, author, and certified coach with over 22 years in construction and 15+ years as a contracting business owner. I’ve been a licensed general contractor since 2011.
I’ve always had a passion for building — but over time, I discovered something bigger. Coaching is my calling. For more than 20 years, I’ve mentored individuals in the trades. For nearly a decade, I’ve coached contractors in my inner circle as they built stronger, more profitable businesses.
I didn’t come from theory.
I came from the jobsite — sawdust, pressure, payroll stress, and constant problem-solving.
I’ve built custom homes, major additions, and commercial spaces, including high-end tenant improvements. I’ve even had a hand in shaping the Seattle skyline through new high-rise construction.
But here’s the truth:
Mastering the craft wasn’t the hardest part.
Building a business that actually works was.
And I learned that the hard way.
From Buried Operator to Confident Business Owner
Early in my career, this was my reality:
- 17-hour days
- Jobs underpriced just to win the bid
- Constant fires — every day felt like survival
- Success always felt just out of reach
Working 17-hour days wasn’t the exception — it was the norm.
I remember one year in particular: I worked 76 hours in five days on a project two hours from home. That added another 20 hours of drive time — 96 hours total in a single week.
At the time, I thought it was a win because I netted just over $8,000.
But the truth was, I was exhausted, overwhelmed, underpaid, and one mistake away from disaster.
That’s when everything changed.
I realized something most contractors never get taught: A business only grows as fast — and as strong — as the person leading it.
So, I became obsessed with learning and professional development:
- How do you build a company that doesn’t depend on you?
- How do you scale without sacrificing your family?
- How do you turn craftsmanship into predictable wealth?
It didn’t happen overnight — but it did happen.
Today, I work 2–3 days a week and earn four times the profit I used to — with peace of mind intact.
Not by working more… but by transforming myself and the business at the same time.
That transformation became the foundation of Master Craft Coaching.
I’m not sharing this to brag. I’m sharing it so you know what’s possible.

Why I Created Master Craft Coaching
As my company grew, something kept happening.
Contractors kept asking:
“Why does your business run without constant chaos?”
“How do you stay profitable without working onsite every day?”
“Why can’t my business operate like yours?”
They weren’t looking for motivation or hype.
They were looking for a way to build a business that actually works.
That’s when it became clear to me: the problem wasn’t tactics — it was leadership, structure, and how the business was designed to operate.
That realization led to The Master Craft Coaching Method — an approach designed to develop both the business and the person leading it.
It integrates mindset, leadership, mechanics, and accountability, because systems only work when the leader behind them evolves too.
The method isn’t tied to any one trade. It applies to the business itself — making it effective for contractors who are ready to master not just their craft, but the responsibility of running a company.
When that happens, profit becomes predictable, freedom expands, and the business finally supports the life it was meant to. So, you can build a life you love.
Where the Method Really Came From
The Master Craft Coaching Method didn’t come from a whiteboard or a weekend certification.
It was built over years — starting back in 2009 — by intentionally designing a business structure early, then pressure-testing and refining it as my company grew.
The systems came first. Then came years of real-world refinement.
But much later, I discovered the missing lever — the one thing that made everything operate at a completely different level.
Once that element was integrated into the structure I had been building and refining for more than a decade, the business stopped depending on me… and started working for me.
That insight is embedded into the Method.
Not as a shortcut.
But as a way of operating.
Built on Family, Integrity & Legacy
Entrepreneurship is in my blood.
Both of my grandfathers were contractors, but my greatest influence came from my grandmother — a Wharton School MBA, strategist, and powerhouse thinker.
She taught me principles that shaped how I build businesses:
- Sustainable growth over shortcuts
- Intelligent risk instead of reckless hustle
- Leadership that develops people, not just projects
Those lessons became foundational to how I think about business.
The Master Craft approach is built on the belief that strong businesses are the result of disciplined leadership, clear thinking, and systems that serve people — not consume them.
